It's no surprise that I love anything involving nail polish. I paint my own nails on average about two times a week. It's relaxing, and I love saving money by doing them myself. Plus the more I do them the better I get. Trust me, when I first started painting my nails it looked like a three year did them. Today I am giving you some inspiration from my own nail art archives. Also I will list and provide links to some of my favorite nail products below.
My fav nail products include:
OPI RapiDry Spray Nail Polish Dryer - This product I bought a few weeks ago, and it is amazing. About 45 seconds after you put your top coat on, you spray this onto your nails and it helps speed up the drying time. I'm not sure how it works, but it does! It doesn't dry them completely but it helps significantly. And it smells really good!
Gelous Nail Gel - This stuff works amazing as a base coat. I have super thin nails and this acts as a strengthener for me. I don't think it actually is a strengthener, but used as a base along with the another two coats of polish my nails seem thicker and don't break as easy.
OPI Start to Finish Base Coat, Top Coat, & Strengthener - I ran out of the product above and decided to try something new. This 3 in 1 product works really well. I love it as a top coat. Plus it strengthens nails which is perfect for me. It also glides on so easily.
A good nail file - is one of the main things you need if doing an at home manicure. Some of the cheapy nail files either don't file the correct way or often times they shred with one swipe. The ones from Sally Beauty Supply are my favorite.
Cuticle Nipper - It does just that. Perfect for taking cuticle skin off. Also any extra skin around nails. This creates a very clean nail look.
Manicure Brush - After I am all done clipping my cuticles and extra skin around my nails, and after filing and shaping them I take this manicure brush and wash my hands while scrubbing my nails to get any extra skin and nail dust off. This also helps to get any dirt from under the nails out. It leaves a clean smooth base ready for some fun nail art!
Concealer/ Liner Brush - I know it's not meant for nails but ...this my friends, is my number one tool for clean looking nail polish. I used to just use Q-tips to clean up messes and accidents. This brush is able to get down into any crevice, and fits perfectly under the nail to clean up any nail polish that gets on the skin without messing up what's on the nail. I just simply stick it in the nail polish remover, and remove away!
Most of these products can be found at any Sally Beauty Supply, Target, Ulta, Wal-Mart, or Sephora. I always try to look for the best deal within these stores, however Sally beauty Supply seems to be my go to nail product place.
I don't have a particular favorite nail polish brand. Honestly I think they all work the same with the correct base and top coats (ones listed above). I mostly look for color. Essie, Loreal, and Revlon have the best colors! I do love OPI as well. Some of my fav cheap nail polishes are from NYC (Target or Wal-Mart) and the teeny tiny bottles at Sally's for only 99 cents.
If you have any questions about the products listed or any colors used in the pictures comment below!
